Crafty Tuesday: Popsicle Stick Coasters

This craft is super easy to make, and it only takes about 10 minutes from start to finish for each coaster.  You can paint or stain them to match your decor, and I think they'd look super cute with a design stenciled as well.  I just left them plain for the sake of this tutorial though, but feel free to get as creative as you want.  My kids enjoyed helping me make these as well, and this is a pretty kid friendly project.  Just be sure to use proper safety precautions with the hot glue gun and little fingers.  I use a plastic clipboard to work on just in case any of the glue drips it doesn't get onto my table top.

Supplies Needed:

Plain Popsicle Sticks
Hot Glue Gun
Hot Glue Sticks
Plastic Clipboard

That's it!

Step 1: Lay out your Popsicle sticks side by side with just a tiny gap between them.  Mine were about eight across.

Step 2:  Run a bead of glue along the long edge of one Popsicle stick and flip it over to attach it near the end of one row of sticks.  Repeat for the other side.

Step 3:  Go back and run a bit of glue on the front and back of the horizontal stick to give it a more secure grip on the others.  You can't use too much glue here.

Step 4:  Repeat the process for a third stick in the middle.

Step 5:  Put a bead of glue on the top of each of the three points of contact and lay a Popsicle stick across to start forming the back side of the coaster.  Repeat across until you're done!

That's it!  Super easy, and they look adorable.
